Vice-Headmaster of Kinran Senri High SchoolMessageKinran Senri High School has taken a step forward with the establishment of a new organization and a new school building in 2005. Now we are aiming to develop further, preserving our fine traditions and meeting the needs of the age at the same time. As a graduate of Kinran Senri High School, I believe that its basic principle hasn’t changed: “A school should be a dojo, i.e. a training place where personalities can develop.” Compared with my schooldays, however, various events have been added to the curriculum to broaden the students’ horizons:
I have noticed that many more students visit the staff room nowadays to ask questions or consult staff, which I think is evidence of a much closer relationship between the students and teachers. Our school has in the past offered only two sports clubs (soccer for boys and volleyball for girls) as our basic sports. Now, however, we also have a tennis club. Many students belong to sports or culture clubs, and it is clear from their smiles as they strive to do their best, that they truly enjoy these activities. Last but not least, our Headmaster meets the students in front of the school building every morning. Furthermore, both our Headmaster and Vice-Headmaster teach some classes throughout the year. I believe that these systems enable us to understand our students’ concerns and ideas. Our school is located in a leafy suburb of Osaka. In this fortunate environment we are making efforts to help young people develop and contribute to the society, giving our students stimulation and competition as well as positive opportunities for communication with their classmates and teachers. Please come and look around our school, primary students, if you want an education which will prepare you to live a full life in the modern world. |
